you've probably seen it before. a small stamp on the inside of a ring, the clasp of a necklace, the back of an earring. three numbers: 925.
it's not just a code. it's a guarantee.
925 sterling silver means that 92.5% of the metal is pure silver. the remaining 7.5% is typically copper — added not to cut corners, but because pure silver is actually too soft to hold its shape as jewelry. the copper gives it structure, durability, the ability to be worn every day without losing itself.
it's a standard that exists to protect you as a wearer. and not every piece of silver jewelry meets it.
not all silver is the same
this is the part most brands don't talk about. silver-toned jewelry and sterling silver are not the same thing. silver-plated pieces can look identical on the outside but have little to no actual silver content underneath. without the 925 stamp, there's no way to know what you're really wearing.
at les solides, all our silver pieces are 925 sterling silver — and explicitly nickel-free. nickel is a common allergen, affecting roughly 1 in 5 people, and it has no place in jewelry that's meant to be worn close to the skin, every day.
what nickel-free actually means
standard sterling silver alloys sometimes contain trace amounts of nickel. ours don't. the 7.5% that isn't silver is copper — nothing else. it's a small detail that makes a real difference if you have sensitive skin, or simply want to know exactly what you're putting on your body.
silver that lives with you
925 sterling silver is not precious in the way that keeps it locked in a box. it's precious in the way that earns its place in your daily routine — worn on the commute, kept on through the evening, layered without thinking.
our hoops click are a good example of this. simple, considered, endlessly wearable — the kind of piece that becomes part of how you get dressed without you ever really deciding it. our snake necklace carries the same logic in a different direction: more sculptural, more presence, but still something you reach for on an ordinary tuesday.
and then there are pieces like the pyrite ring from our lux collection — where 925 silver becomes the foundation for something that feels a little more ceremonial. pyrite has its own energy. the silver holds it.
why we love silver right now
there's something about silver that suits this moment. it doesn't perform. it doesn't ask for attention the way gold does. it's cool-toned, a little understated, and at the same time completely capable of being the most interesting thing in a room.
soft but strong. minimal yet expressive. polished one day, lived-in the next.
